Boston has been Pittsnogled

by:Matt Jones07/26/06
When you are a Kentucky basketball fan, it is hard to root for players on other teams. Because Kentucky legitimately believes that it can contend for a title every year, cheering for other players may seem like you are cheering against the Cats, as these players may ultimately be the downfall of your team's year (and yes, I mean you Dewayne Wade!!!). However I made an exception the last two years for our man Kevin Pittsnogle. Whether it was his country hairdoo, multiple tattoos or absurd buck teeth, something about a 6' 10" guy who refuses to shoot anything but three pointers was appealing to me. Thus you can imagine my joy today when I read that the Boston Celtics had signed Pittsnogle to a two-year deal as a free agent. The signing is quite amazing considering Pittsnogle was not even drafted and was considered a longshot to make any NBA team. By signing the 'Nogle to a two-year deal, the Celtics have locked him up and insured that no NBDL team can steal him during the offseason. Pittsnogle joins one of the odder teams in the league, as he meets the point guard battle of Rondo v Telfair, the craziness of Al Jefferson and the never say pass attitude of Paul Pierce. He should really enjoy that. But I have to say, if I were one of the guys covering the Celtics, I would be excited. The craziness quotient just continues to rise.....and on a team that got rid of Ricky Davis during the offseason, that is saying something.
