According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics have traded Kanter to the Trail Blazers as part of a three-way deal with Memphis. Kanter is headed to Portland, Mario Hezonjia and Desmond Bane are headed to Memphis, and a future draft pick is headed to Boston. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1329888113519259650?s=20 This is the second time in Kanter's career that he has played for the Trail Blazers, with the first coming back in 2019 when the former Wildcat averaged 13.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest in 23 games with the franchise. Kanter expressed his excitement in returning "home" to Portland following the news. https://twitter.com/EnesKanter/status/1329889229523083269?s=20 Going into his tenth season in the NBA, Kanter has also had stints with the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks. Prior to his time in the league, Kanter signed with Kentucky out of high school, choosing the Wildcats over Kansas, Syracuse and Washington. The former five-star recruit was ruled ineligible by the NCAA for the entirety of the 2010-11 season after the student-athlete reinstatement staff found that he received benefits above his actual and necessary expenses - over $33,000 - while playing for a club basketball team in Turkey. After the conclusion of his lone season at Kentucky, Kanter declared for the NBA Draft where he was selected third overall by the Jazz. Despite the NCAA's ruling, Kanter is still proud to call himself a former Wildcat and rep the University of Kentucky. https://twitter.com/EnesKanter/status/1329113510266236928?s=20 Best of luck to Kanter in Portland.
