While not many expected to see Lynn Bowden Jr. suit up for the Miami Dolphins in the season-opener, it’s still sad to hear he won’t play.

Ahead of Sunday’s Week 1 games, a small group of former Kentucky Wildcats including Bowden Jr., veteran Avery Williamson, and rookie Logan Stenberg are among the list of players who have been ruled inactive by their respective organizations.

Bowden was famously traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Dolphins in a confusing trade that occurred just over a week ago. Much was to be made about the head-scratching decision from the Raiders front office, who practically had to pay Miami to take Bowden Jr. off of their hands. The Dolphins appeared more than happy to oblige and plan on using him as a wide receiver instead of a running back like his coaches in Vegas wanted. But with that being said, the quick turnaround as a member of a new team didn’t bode well for Bowden Jr. potentially playing in Week 1. As a result, he’s been listed as inactive.

As for Williamson, the New York Jets veteran linebacker has been dealing with a hamstring injury that will keep him out of his team’s season-opener against the Buffalo Bills. Stenberg, an offensive lineman and fourth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2020 Draft, has also been ruled inactive, although it is not known if it is due to an injury or not.
