Despite the NCAA still considering Evaluation Periods in August, September, and October, the 2020 Nike EYBL season has officially been called off.

In an announcement made this evening, EYBL has canceled the remainder of the 2020 season, including Peach Jam.

“As we continue to navigate the evolving impact of COVID-19, we are cancelling the remainder of the 2020 EYBL season,” the statement read. “This was not a decision taken lightly, but the health and safety of our athletes, families, fans and employees is our top priority. We look forward to bringing the EYBL back in 2021.

“We understand EYBL has provided a platform for intense competition, showcased some of the sport’s greatest talent, and gathered a strong community to celebrate their shared love for the game. To fill the void of play, we are creating an access-only, online portal of game footage for coaches, launching in June.

“The 2020 EYBL athletes will always be a part of the EYBL family.”

On Friday, Evan Daniels of 247Sports reported that the NCAA and NABC are considering individual Evaluation Periods from August 6-9, September 4-6, and October 9-11.

This comes after the NCAA announced earlier this week that they would be extending the Dead Period through July 31, meaning the Evaluation Periods in April, June, and July have been canceled due to the coronavirus.

“The extension maintains consistent recruiting rules for all sports and allows coaches to focus on the student-athletes who may be returning to campus,” Council chair M. Grace Calhoun said in a statement. “The committee is committed to reviewing the dead period again in late June or early July.”

While other events may still be played, EYBL will not participate.
