BTI's Rants and Ramblings: 15 Years Ago UK Beat Vandy by 43 points.....IN A HALF!

[caption id="attachment_222123" align="alignnone" width="441"] Big Blue History Photo[/caption] The 2002-03 Cats are really sometimes forgotten as one of Kentucky's greatest teams.  Like several other Tubby teams, their inability to make it to the Final Four makes the fanbase forget just how great a team this was.  In my opinion, that team was Tubby's best.  Yes, better than the 1998 Championship team.  There is no greater example of this than the game on March 5th, 2003 against Vanderbilt.  That was not a particulary good Vanderbilt team and Kentucky had the game well in hand after the 1st half, up 19 points.  But there was no letting up in the 2nd half and UK put together one of the more lopsided halves in school history: Kentucky 58, Vanderbilt 15. Consider that again.  A 43-point difference in just 1 half of basketball.  UK beat Vandy by over 2 points each minute of play that half.  The 62 point victory is one of only 12 in UK history of 60 or more points, and only the 2nd one in SEC play since 1950. Remember how dominant UK was in beating UCLA in 2014?  That first half, considered one of the most suffocating in UK history, was a 34-point difference.  This half was nine points better than that!  I have linked up the video of that half below, set to begin with the beginning of the 2nd half.
