[caption id="attachment_207790" align="alignnone" width="601"]UK Athletics UK Athletics[/caption] 1st Down Pass: 6-16, 129 yards, 2 TD Run: 20 rushes for 146 yards (7.3 ypc) Combined Season Statistics Pass: 33-59, 465 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 3 sacks for -23 yards (1 fumble lost) Run: 145 rushes for 824 yards (5.7 ypc), 2 TD RECAP: Here's the funny thing about the 1st down plays, UK had a bunch of bad plays.  The passing numbers were very poor in terms of completion percentage.  But, UK hit 2 big pass plays in the 2nd half for touchdowns and Boom had back-to-back runs for 60 yards as well.  I think fans, and Mark Stoops, have to like the big play potential shown in both the running and passing game but just tightening up Johnson's arm will be key. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––— 2nd Down and Long (6 yards or more) Pass: 4-6, 63 yards Run: 15 rushes for 73 yards (4.9 ypc) Combined Season Statistics Pass: 23-39, 316 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT, 6 sacks for -37 yards (1 fumble lost) Run: 69 rushes for 382 yards (5.5 ypc) RECAP: Cats were very efficient here.  Stephen Johnson shined brightest on 2nd down, not only connecting on 67% of passes but also hitting a couple over 15 yards.  The highlight being that crucial completion with just 4 seconds remaining to put UK in field goal range. 2nd Down and Short (5 yards or less) Pass: 3-3, 46 yards Run: 2 rushes for 13 yards (6.5 ypc) Combined Season Statistics Pass: 7-8, 153 yards, 1 TD, 1 sack for -5 yards (1 fumble lost) Run: 23 rushes for 115 yards (5.0 ypc), 1 TD RECAP: Only 5 plays here but UK averaged over 10 yards per play with them.  This has been one of UK's best situations all year long. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– 3rd Down and Long (6 yards or more) Pass: 1-5, 21 yards, 1 sack for -7 yards, 1 fumble lost (converted 1 of 6) Run: 4 rushes for 39 yards (9.8 ypc), 1 TD (converted 1 of 4) Combined Season Statistics Pass: 17-39, 224 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT, 7 sacks for -58 yards (converted 10 of 46) Run: 12 rushes for 80 yards (6.7 ypc), 1 TD (converted 2 of 8) RECAP: First the bad news, the Cats continue to just be beyond abysmal in the passing game on 3rd and long.  Now, the good news.  I think that Snell touchdown run was the key play in the game.  UK was facing a tough 3rd and 9 and the momentum was shifting and Snell surprised the Bulldog defense and blasted through for the score.  Love that guy and love the Cats mixing it up. 3rd Down and Short (5 yards or less) Pass: 2-3, 29 yards (converted 2 of 3) Run: 2 rushes for 9 yards (4.5 ypc) (converted 2 of 2) Combined Season Statistics Pass: 4-11, 57 yards, 1 INT, 1 sack for -3 yards (converted 4 of 12) Run: 17 rushes for 84 yards (4.9 ypc) (converted 13 of 17) RECAP: Great execution by UK here, including completing 2 3rd and short passes for 1st downs.  Keep in mind through 6 games this season they had only done that twice and they did it twice against Miss State.  The rushing attack continues to be effective here as well.
