BTI's Rants and Ramblings: UK Going For Historic Win Streak over South Carolina

by:Bryan1309/28/18
Everyone knows that in the modern history of UK football, Vanderbilt has typically been the whipping boy of the league, and for Kentucky, the only team in the league that we have consistently been better than.  In fact, UK has four different occasions where they have 4 consecutive games or more against the Commodores.  But UK is currently holding a 4-game winning streak over South Carolina, something they have only done one other time against an SEC team not named Vanderbilt:   (7 games) Mississippi State: 1972, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1984, 1985, 1990 (*the win in 1976 only given to UK because of forfeit) (6 games) Vanderbilt: 1976-1981 (4 games) Vanderbilt: 1971-1974 (4 games) Vanderbilt: 1996-1999 (4 games) Vanderbilt: 2004-2007 (4 games) South Carolina: 2014-????? If UK is to win tomorrow night at Kroger Field, this will become the 3rd longest SEC winning streak in UK modern history.  These are the kind of winning streaks that other SEC teams have traditionally had on us.  Mark Stoops has begun really breaking down all of the barriers and embarrassments that UK football has had to endure for so long.  Beating Florida.  Beating Tennessee.  Beating Louisville.  But I think getting a sustained winning streak over an SEC opponent not named Vanderbilt is almost just as important. Tomorrow's game isn't just important to try and get to 5-0 and 3-0 in the SEC.  It is important to break down a barrier that UK can't dominate an SEC team for 1/2 a decade.
