John Calipari was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame back in 2015, and next month, he’ll receive another honor from the prestigious organization.

Calipari has been named a 2018 Naismith Hall of Fame “Service Above Self” honoree for his charitable efforts and will be recognized at a luncheon at in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 15 alongside Jeb Belise, a longtime West Springfield resident whose family business has displayed a longstanding commitment to community service.

“We’re very pleased to be recognizing Jeb Balise and John Calipari for their outstanding philanthropic work and service to others,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “On a regional, national and even global scale, their impact can be seen and felt. We invite the Springfield community to join us in celebrating these exceptional gentlemen who have given so much to others.”

In addition to helping 46 players get drafted by the NBA during his career, Calipari has raised millions of dollars for those in need through telethons for natural disaster relief, his annual fantasy camp, and The Calipari Foundation. Calipari’s a great coach — a Hall of Famer, in fact — but his philanthropic efforts make him an even better person.
