UK Makes Paul Scruggs' Top Eight

The Indianapolis point guard is considered the second best in the class of 2017 by 247 Sports.    Today he released his top eight schools:  Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, Louisville, Kansas, Xavier, Ohio State and Kentucky.  Normally it's not that big of a deal, but it's kind of strange when you consider that Calipari hasn't extended a scholarship offer. Calipari has watched Scruggs a few times on the AAU circuit.  Here's a sample of what he saw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUpOB7Nt_Fc

JaQuan Lyle is Excited to Return to Louisville

Screen Shot 2016-05-23 at 8.17.20 PM The Ohio State swingman was responding to the news that the Buckeyes will travel to the Yum! Center for the ACC/Big 10 Challenge.  If you recall, Lyle was one of Katina's Kids, recruited by Coach McGee at UofL before opting to play for Ohio State.  He was questioned by the NCAA during the investigation.  I think it's safe to say he's a big reason why Louisville did not participate in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Will the SEC be Good at Basketball Next Year?

Rob Dauster of NBC Sports answers that question, and a few others in this breakdown of SEC offseason storylines.  Even though it's Kentucky's conference to lose, it won't be as bad as you think.
The SEC balanced at least: And that’s why I hesitate to call the conference bad. The way the league shakes out, there may not be another team capable of getting to the Sweet 16. But there are 10 other teams in the conference that could make the NCAA tournament and I wouldn’t be surprised. There are five or six teams that could finish second in the SEC regular season standings and I wouldn’t be surprised. Kentucky is clearly the best team in the conference and Missouri is, by far, the worst, but I don’t think it’s crazy to think that the other 12 teams in the league could all end up finishing somewhere between 12-6 and 7-11 in the league.

More Proof UK is Linebacker U

The analytics experts of Pro Football Focus have a few "Signature Stats," comprised of efficiency ratings for a variety of tasks that take place in the game of football.  I'm not one to easily understand advanced statistics, but tackling efficiency isn't a difficult concept to grasp.  "Attempts per miss" helps you understand who finishes tackles and who let's guys get by.  The Top Five in the NFL from 2016:
  1. Luke Keuchly
  2. Christian Jones
  3. Wesley Woodyard
  4. Jerrell Freeman
  5. Danny Trevathan
Calling Kentucky Punter U was a tongue in cheek reference, but former Wildcat linebackers are no joke.
