Carolina is Coming

There is a buzz in the air. You can feel it. Big games like this are what make life fun for a college basketball fan, and it doesn't get any better than Kentucky vs. North Carolina. I know there are a lot of East Coast writers and knuckleheads that always try to push the Duke v UNC rivalry as the best in college basketball, but what do they know? I'll get their opinion on things when baseball starts. When it comes to good basketball, most of those guys wouldn't know a real rivalry if John Wall no-looked it into the back of their head. A bunch of shirtless, Zima-laden preppies jumping up and down makes Duke a better opponent? Nah. Give me the real tradition of two historic powerhouses getting into a slobber knocker once a year. Here are some gambling-based trends for those of you that follow such things: North Carolina is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Kentucky North Carolina is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Kentucky North Carolina is 13-1 SU in its last 14 games North Carolina is 23-2 SU in its last 25 games on the road Kentucky is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home Kentucky is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games Kentucky is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games when playing North Carolina Kentucky is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games when playing North Carolina (SU = Straight Up; ATS = Against The Spread) Things don't look good for the Cats. Everything is against them. They have a soft schedule. They are young. They have trouble defending the three. There just isn't any hope. . . wait. What's that? Is that John Wall's music? Did I just throw down on the John Wall dance right before the big UNC game? You're darn right I did. My prediction? UK wins by 5: 92-87. Gooooo Cats.
