For the second straight week, Cason Wallace has been recognized as the top rookie in the league. Today, Wallace was named SEC Freshman of the Week, his second consecutive honor and third this season. Mississippi State’s Tolu Smith won SEC Player of the Week.

Wallace missed the Ole Miss game with an injury but bounced back to help lead Kentucky to the 72-67 win over Florida Saturday night. He finished with 20 points, a career-high three blocks, three rebounds, and two assists. Wallace was clutch down the stretch, scoring 10 of Kentucky’s final 16 points in the game, including seven of the final 10.

It was Wallace’s 14th double-figure scoring game of the season and the second 20-point performance. He ranks among the SEC leaders in steals per game (6th/2.00), assists per game (7th/3.5), and assist-to-turnover ratio (7th/1.90-to-1). He sits third on the team with 11.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

This is Kentucky’s fourth SEC weekly honor this season. As mentioned, Wallace won SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 30 and Dec. 27. On Jan. 23, Oscar Tshiebwe earned SEC Player of the Week for his 37-point, 24-rebound performance vs. Georgia. Kentucky has won more weekly SEC honors (123) than any other school during the John Calipari era, including 93 SEC Freshman of the Week awards and 30 SEC Player of the Week honors.

Go Cason. Go Cats.
