Cats Advance in SEC Tournament with 7-1 Win Over Tide

The UK Baseball team extended their stay in Hoover by at least two more days as they defeated eighth seeded Alabama 7-1 in the single elimination opening round of the SEC Tournament. The ninth seeded Cats scored two runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings and another in the eighth on nine hits and two errors.  Center fielder Austin Cousino knocked in three runs on a 1-for-3 day with a walk.  Ka'ai Tom, Max Kuhn, and Matt Reida each drove in a run as well. Wildcat ace A.J. Reed worked five innings, allowing one run on six hits while walking and striking out two apiece in his SEC leading 11th win of the season.  Junior Andrew Nelson took over in relief in the sixth and allowed just two hits over four shutout innings. The Cats will face top seeded Florida tomorrow at 5:30 as the tournament moves to a double elimination format for the next three days.  The Cats took two of three from the Gators, who won the the SEC regular season by three games with a 21-9 conference record, in Lexington during the weekend of the Final Four.
