Cats close out Cards, 71-62

NCAA/BASKETBALLPhoto by Reuters Some things can't be killed with $3k and, today, Rick Pitino couldn't hatch a plan to take care of those pesky Kentucky Wildcats, who used defense and physical play to put away a surprisingly resilient Louisville Cardinal squad.  The Cats jumped out to a 15-3 lead early on and held the Filthy Cards without a field goal until Samardo Samuels tipped in a miss nearly 10 minutes into the first half.  Though the game was marred by terrible foul calls on both sides (and an awesome elbow shot from DeMarcus Cousins!) and poor shot selection by the Cats, they weathered a second-half push from the Cards and responded to U of L taking a one-point lead with a 14-3 run, taking a lead they would never relinquish.  The Cats walked away victorious, but you'll be hard-pressed to find someone who thought they played a great game.  But, in the end, they handled their business in one of the most emotional games I've seen and it's off to run the table in the SEC! Go Cats! PS....Matt will be by with more later. Cats Stats (see, that rhymed) Patterson: 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal Cousins:  18 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal Miller:  0 points, 2 rebounds Bledsoe:  12 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals Wall:  17 points, 1 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals Stevenson:  2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block Harris:  3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal Dodson:  2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal Liggins:  1 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal Orton:  1 steal, 2 blocks
