Cats fall down early, come up short again, 89-85 to Tennessee

mbb_021007_crawford3.jpeg Once again, the Cats were unable to play forty minutes with authority, dug themselves a big hole and were unable to make a complete comeback and lost to the Vols in Knoxville. It was another ultimately frustrating performance for the Cats as they looked disoriented on defense the entire game, focusing their entire scheme on Chris Lofton, and giving up way too many inside gimmes to other random Volunteers. The Cats all year long have struggled to play a complete game, and tonight was no different. Their good spurts are offset by their bad and a complete game never reaches fruition. Ultimately however, what disappointed me the most was not the poor start, or the lackadaisical play in between. The Cats found themselves tied, once again, with three minutes left....and just as in the UCLA, Vanderbilt and Georgia game, they were unable to close in the crucial minutes. There is no doubt in my mind that when playing, Kentucky is on par with all but a couple of teams in America. However great teams dont take their two key late possessions and have their two Junior guard leaders throw the ball away to the other team. This one, like the games mentioned before, was teed up for an important victory.....and the Cats let it go. That is difficult to swallow.
