Cats in the NFL: All Eyes on the Frozen Tundra

by:Brent Wainscott01/24/21
Good folks of the BBNm we have reached quite possibly the best Championship Weekend of all time. In the AFC, it's a battle between two of the league's brightest young stars for a trip to the Super Bowl and in the NFC it's the "GOAT Bowl". Aaron Rodgers vs Tom Brady on the Frozen Tundra for a trip to the Super Bowl, it doesn't get any better than this. On the Kentucky side of things, all eyes will be on the defenses of the NFC Championship. The Packers and Bucs faced off in Week 6 where the Bucs just curb-stomped the Packers 38-10. Despite that, it has been documented that the first matchup has almost no relevance towards the NFC Championship, so we should be in for a good one. Obviously, the storyline is Rodgers, Brady, and these two prolific offenses, but for the BBN, Za'Darius Smith (GB) and Mike Edwards (TB) could find themselves making some game-changing plays. It's noted that Mike Edwards likely intercepted the last pass of Drew Brees' storied career to seal the Buccaneers trip to the NFC Championship last weekend. While the numbers aren't gaudy for Edwards, he has picked off some the game's biggest legends this season. He was the first player to pick off Tom Brady in training camp, he sent Brees into retirement last week, and in Week 6 he picked off Aaron Rodgers in the matchup's first lopsided contest. He's taken advantage of his opportunities this year and now they're proving fruitful in the playoffs. On over to the good side, Za'Darius Smith has been one of the leaders on a defense that is starting to trend in the right direction. For a defense that has been considered the Achilles heel of this Packers team, they've quietly been dominating the past few weeks. Green Bay has held five of their last six opponents to under 20 points. Throw in the fact they've got the Green Bay conditions working for them, Big Z and the Packer defense might be the key to them making their second Super Bowl appearance in the last decade. I'm too nervous to talk about this any further, 3:05 PM ET hurry up. Go Pack Go.
