Cats in the NFL: Week 9 Preview

by:Brent Wainscott11/08/20

Editor’s note: This preview was originally posted prior to Thursday Night Football and is being reposted ahead of Sunday’s Cats in the NFL matchups.

Week 9 in the NFL kicks off tonight when my Green Bay Packers take on the San Fransisco 49ers in a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship in the Bay Area. The Niners are a walking injured reserve with a laundry list of their stars out for tonight’s game on TNF, including most of their offensive line which will bode well for Za’Darius Smith and the struggling Packers front seven.

There aren’t too many games to circle on the schedule this week, but we will get to see Avery Williamson reunite with Bud Dupree in Pittsburgh when they take on the terrible Dallas Cowboys in Jerryworld on Sunday. We’ve known about the Steelers’ defensive success all year, but that should amp up on Sunday against one of the worst offenses in the NFL, that is quite frankly looking for answers since Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury.

Danny Trevathan and Matt’s Chicago Bears take on Drew and Tyler’s Titans in a game that I think will determine the direction of these two teams. Both are on two-game losing streaks, and this game will go a long way in getting these teams back to the top of playoff contention. Give me the Titans in this one.

Finally, we will wrap up with a Week 1 rematch on Sunday Night Football between the Bucs and the Saints. It was a difficult opening week for Mike Edwards in the first matchup with the Saints, but he has quietly turned into a budding star in that Tampa secondary, so we will see if he can get revenge from his rough Week 1 outing.
