Cats Playing for 44th SEC Title Tomorrow Night

by:Anthony Wireman02/24/10
Kentucky will be playing for at least a share of their 44th SEC Championship tomorrow night against South Carolina. How dominant is that? A few evening notes: - How is this for poetic justice? Remember a few days ago when I spoke to Erik Daniels and he was preparing to face Patrick Sparks'team in the Ukrainian Superleague? Daniels stated that he expected to be the best Wildcat in the game. Well, how about this: Sparks and Daniels each scored 20 points in the game. Daniels added 7 rebounds and 5 assists but was only 5-16 from the field. Sparks was 4-5 from the 3-point line and dished out 9 assists, but also suffered through 9 turnovers. I'd call that a Wildcat draw. Unfortunately for Daniels, Sparks won the war as Hoverla defeated Azovmash 82-74. - I hate to even acknowledge it, but my least favorite college basketball player of all time has been accepted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. I don't want to say his name, but here's a hint: he hit a buzzer-beater in 1992 to end Kentucky's dream of reaching the Final Four. - Windstream has announced the winner of their Pass it Forward contest. Walter Arnett from Lexington has won and he will get a chance to make a half-court shot at the Florida game on March 7. The shot is worth $10,000 for him and an additional $10,000 for Coach Cal's foundation.
