Cats shooting the three at a record clip

uk-3pt-percentage Despite some up-and-down games to close the year, Kentucky finished the regular season as the best three-point shooting team in the history of the program, narrowly eclipsing the title-winning 1995-96 team.  With the postseason games still remaining, there is, of course, a possibility that the number could fall and they could lose that lofty ranking, but it does still prove what a major improvement this team is from downtown in comparison to last year's squad.  The first version of Calipari's Cats shot over 40% from three for the first half of the season before falling off considerably, but this team has shown a more sustained threat from downtown.  If you look at the teams ranking near the top of this list, it provides considerable optimism for the Cats' March hopes, but that goes far beyond simply their percentage.  What I think is most telling about these numbers is that the Cats have not found themselves settling for threes as young teams tend to do late in the year after finding success from deep.  Their percentage of three-point attempts to field goal attempts (31%) puts them right in the middle of the pack of the top-10 teams in school history.  I think that's a sign of maturity.  Add that with their ability to rebound the ball, and that could be a good indicator of some postseason success this year. Go Cats.  #BashWednesday.
