USATSI_8483707_154849602_lowres Yesterday, Chad Ford was among the reporters who got to watch Karl Towns work out for the Los Angeles Lakers. Needless to say, Ford was impressed. He went as far to call Towns "one of the most freakishly talented bigs" he's ever seen. Today, Ford started a series making a case for each top prospect to go #1, and after watching Towns yesterday, it's not surprising that he started with him:
Big men can't do things Towns can do. They're not supposed to. It's not natural. Yet, for 90 minutes, Towns keeps playing more like James Harden than Dwight Howard. McLean, the former UCLA superstar and 10-year NBA veteran, walks over to me shaking his head. "I've been training guys for the draft for 11 years and I've never seen anyone his size who can do the things that Karl can do. It's otherworldly."
Ford tries to find a weakness in Karl, but fails. According to the scouts Ford talked to, Towns is the "clear best big man" in the draft, with one GM going as far to say "it's not even close" between Karl and Okafor for #1. LOTS more where that came from over at the Worldwide Leader, so go check it out. [ESPN]
