Mark Stoops has finished his 2018 class with a recruiting coup.  Four-star linebacker Chris Oats has committed to Kentucky over Ohio State according to Mike Dyer of WCPO.

The 6’4″ linebacker from Mike Edwards’ alma mater,  Cincinnati Winton Woods, also held offers from Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Louisville and more.  Oats is considered the No. 22 outside linebacker in the class by the 247 Composite Rankings and the No. 325 player overall.

Stoops and Vince Marrow have recruited a ton of talented players from the state of Ohio, however, if Ohio State enters the picture, it’s usually bad news for the Big Blue.  Not only was Ohio State in the picture, they made Oats a priority by offering him a scholarship prior to his junior season.  Kentucky went toe-to-toe with the Buckeyes for 18 months and won the recruiting battle.

The addition of Oats gives Kentucky the perfect player to cap off the 2018 recruiting class.  An elite athlete that can play all four linebacker positions, the decommitment of another linebacker does not matter now that Oats is a Wildcat.  Kentucky is getting a versatile defender that will make an impact on Saturdays and looks a lot like an NFL playmaker.  See for yourself:
