Chris Singleton narrows his choices......

singleton.jpg As we go into the final couple of weeks before football begins and basketball news spreads, today we learned a tidbit about the young man who is likely Kentucky's #1 big man recruit in the country. Chris Singleton is exactly the type of player that Kentucky needs, a versatile, athletic big man who can rebound and score in transition.....a perfect counter to Patrick Patterson and the making of a dynamic inside duo. Today Singleton did a number of interviews where he mentioned he was "narrowing" his list.....but still managed to list up to seven schools. Unfortunately for UK, Singleton mentioned his top four and mysteriously had UK 5th.....a sign that one would think is not positive. However Singleton went on to say that if his visit to Kentucky went well, then they could move way up the list. This news strikes me as bizarre and counter to most of the scuttlebutt we have been hearing recently. I spoke with someone close to Singleton last week who told me that it would "come down to Tennessee and Kentucky and North Carolina, only if they offer." Now it looks as if Singleton is more reserved about the Cats and one wonders why. It could be that Singleton doesnt feel as if he is the Cats top interest and wants to feel that "love" on his official visit. Or it could be that he is hesitant about losing an offer and is being somewhat reserved in his comments on the team. Whatever the real reason, I dont think these comments suggest that the Cats are not in the ballpark. They will get an official visit and will be there when the final decision comes down. But today's news once again reminds us of one thing.....no matter how good recruiting looks, it is never a sure thing.....even when Billy Clyde is the one making the sell.
