Chuck Hayes speaks ahead of Hall of Fame induction
Chuck Hayes will be inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame tomorrow, but first, he chatted with Metz Camfield over at CoachCal.com about the honor.
Hayes told Cal’s website, “I still can’t believe it. I’m in shock, I’m honored, I’m humbled to the utmost. I just can’t believe it. One, I can’t believe it’s been that long since I’ve been in college. Two, there are so many great student-athletes that have come through the program and university, and they chose me to join this exclusive class. I’m honored.”
Hayes also had some good things to say about Calipari. He said, “(He’s done an) unbelievable job. He was the right person for the job from the start. … He’s unbelievable. What he’s doing, I couldn’t be more proud.”
