Closer Entrance Music

by:Matt Jones04/16/06
Do you remember where you were the first time you saw "Major League" for the first time? What was your favorite scene? Was it "just a bit outside" by Bob Uecker....Wille "Mays" Hayes....or Corbin Bernsen having one last hurrah before LA Law ended? Well for me, I always had a special spot in my heart for the "Wild Thing" played by Charlie Sheen. Maybe it was his dorky glasses (I certainly had them) or his huge fastball (not sure I had that), but I was a big fan. That movie also began the tradition of having relief pitchers entering into a game to entrance music. The history of relief pitcher entrance music is chronicled on Slate and from that history, we can see that the newest issue in closer entrance music is the Mariano Rivera/Billy Wagner feud over "Enter Sandman." Billy seems to be a copier here and should likely step off....but as Mitch Williams showed, you have to be sensitive with a closer. Which led me to this question? Take current UK players.....what should their entrance music be? Come on Intern, Turkey Hunter and others....I know you can do this. I will start....Jared Carter......Tubby Smith singing Dierks Bentley, "What was I thinking?"
