Coach John Calipari is hopping a plane to Spain (randomly sings "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain"... sorry, I gotta throw that in. Love me some My Fair Lady and Julie Andrews) Anyway, Coach Cal is crossing the pond to Zaragoza, Spain later today to watch some of the top recruits in the 2017 and 2018 classes in the FIBA U17 World Championships. The roster includes several UK recruiting targets including Immanuel Quickly, the second-ranked point guard in 2018, Kevin Knox, Wendell Carter, Javonte Smart and Gary Trent Jr. According to Evan Daniels of Scout.com, Kevin Knox was among the standouts for the first day of the of the U17's and he claimed on Twitter Carter "may be the best player in the event." UK special assistant Joel Justus has already been traipsing about Spain for a couple of days now and it looks like Cal is going to join him. It also looks like Calipari is having a bit of fun with fans with an impromptu "Desert Island Picks: Coach Cal Edition" before boarding his flight. He asked fans on Twitter to guess the three movies and music he downloaded in prep for the 12-hour plane ride and is giving away a signed t-shirt to whomever can read Coach Cal's mind. https://twitter.com/UKCoachCalipari/status/746717460548718592 https://twitter.com/UKCoachCalipari/status/746717532250316801 Megan Calipari has already given you guys a head start: https://twitter.com/MeganteCalipari/status/746717957179441152
