The wait is over, football fans. College football returns tonight. Sure, Hawaii and and California faked a game last week to take credit for the season opener, but no one actually considered that the start of football. Most people completely ignored it to avoid the tease. But today, today it begins for real with a slate of Thursday games to lube us up for the weekend: sched Then it gets really real Saturday night at 7:30 pm in Commonwealth Stadium. Let's go.   We will get one last pre-Southern Miss update from Mark Stoops. Stoops will be available at the conclusion of Thursday's practice to give a final interview before the season opener. He and the team will then shut everything down until we see them again Saturday at the Cat Walk prior to kickoff. It's finally here. Former UK tennis star begins US Open run at 11 am.  Eric Quigley, a former All-American and NCAA runner-up at Kentucky, is set to take Court 6 at 11:00 am in Flushing Meadows. Quigley is competing in the Men's Doubles draw with Nicolas Meister. The two Americans qualified for the grand slam last week. Today we also have Ivo Karlovic versus Donald Young in the afternoon. Karlovic is a KSR favorite and Young is the former phenom who we once saw tell his own mother to "shut the f--- up" at the US Open. Big tennis-watching day at the KSR office. Okay, I'll shut up with the tennis. The KSR Football Podcast returns today. The band is getting back together for an afternoon taping of our third episode of the season. Assuming it all goes as planned, it will be available for download tonight. But if you're assuming it all goes as planned, you clearly don't know Nick Roush. He left the equipment in Louisville both times we've recorded so far. Zy'Aire Hughes announced he will redshirt. UK freshman Zy'Aire Hughes took to Instagram last night to let his followers know he will sit out the upcoming season as a redshirt. The Paducah native wrote, "I'm redshirting this year, so better believe you'll see a new and improved #89 on the field next year." There's a new menu at Commonwealth Stadium. Have a look at your new options for satisfying that game day appetite and soaking up all that bourbon for a good second half run. Those hot brown nachos don't stand a chance. DeMarcus Cousins is hosting a panel discussion with police and community members in Mobile, Alabama. But he's still the NBA's bad guy, right? Isn't that what we're supposed to say about him? The open panel discussion will be part of Boogie's Labor Day celebration in his hometown, which also includes a block party for the community and a free basketball camp for local kids. What a terrible guy! Steve Zahn will co-host today's KSR. Matt and Ryan will be joined by Steve Zahn for two hours of KSR radio today. Zahn is a hilarious actor/Kentucky fan who you should know from lots of good movies and television shows. (I'm a Saving Silverman guy myself.) Tune in.
