College football fans across the country are starting their second Saturday of football with some Kentucky football talk. ESPN’s College GameDay spent about ten minutes breaking down the matchup between the Wildcats and the Gators, particularly the quarterback battle between Will Levis and Anthony Richardson.

NFL Scouts File into Gaines for Kentucky vs. Florida

NFL teams in need of a quarterback are doing their franchise a disservice if they do not send a representative to tonight’s football game in The Swamp. Pete Thamel reports 22 NFL scouts will be in attendance, with three from the Giants (Hello, Wan’Dale Robinson), three from the Bucs and two from the Commanders.

“These are like super humans. These are very big physical freaks,” said David Pollack. “I mean, both of the can run, both of them can make plays, both of them throw the football. They can throw it through a car wash and not get it wet. I mean both of them have that kind of ability. It’s going to be interesting to see how they develop as passers because we could show highlights, but they aren’t refined in knowing exactly where to go with the ball.”

Kirk Herbstreit recalled first seeing Levis when he was at Penn State.

“He came in as a short yardage quarterback. He was like a tight end playing quarterback,” said Herbstreit. “The amount of growth, the development he has had in Lexington is unbelievable. I think he’s way beyond where we see Anthony Richardson.”

Bulletin Board Material for Mark Stoops?

Kirk Herbstreit is one of the few to provide kind words to the Cats. The Florida Gators have been the flavor of the week around the country. Everyone is picking the Gators after their week one win over Utah. It feels overwhelming. That’s why Chris Fallica, better known as “The Bear,” is taking Kentucky and the points. “Don’t you feel like there’s a little too much overreaction?”

Kirk Herbstreit smiled, “No, no.” He then delivered a tongue in cheek line, alluding to Roman Harper’s comments from earlier this week. “I don’t think Kentucky’s tough enough to go on the road and win today.”

If it was not clear enough that he was kidding, later in the show Herbstreit selected the Wildcats as his Super Dog.

One Wildcat to Watch

While most of the conversation is about the quarterbacks, Desmond Howard is telling the country to keep their eyes on one Kentucky wide receiver, true freshman Dane Key. The Lexington native caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown in his UK debut.
