Forty years ago, a legend was born when the 1978 University of Kentucky men’s basketball team overcame enormous expectations and pressure to win the school’s 5th NCAA championship, its first title in 20 years and the first since Adolph Rupp retired. Many questions and critics surrounded their efforts all season, and yet they persevered and triumphed after beating Duke in the final game.  As a result, the ’78 group led by Coach Joe B. Hall is one of the — if not THE — best-loved teams in the program’s storied history!

So, on the 40th anniversary of that wondrous season and championship, it is with great pride and excitement that Your Frame Of Mind Galleries will host a celebration — not for one member of the that team, not two, or three — but nearly all* of the ENTIRE team for an autograph event!

This anniversary celebration will be held this Saturday (2/24) before the UK-Missouri game, in the foodcourt level of the Lexington Center (immediately adjacent to Rupp Arena), from 5:30 pm — 7:30 pm.  ALL fans are welcome to attend, regardless if they have a ticket to the 8:15 pm game or not.

Fans may choose among several printed items by “Wildcat Legends” artist David Bryan Blondell, including a team art poster that features all 14 players and Coach Hall — for the special price of $10 — and a brand new 1978 celebration art print, for only $20 (pictured). Blondell’s “Wildcat Legends” fine art prints of Jack “Goose” Givens and Kyle Macy will also be available, signed by them for only $35.

Any item can be signed by the entire team and Coach Hall (scheduled) for only $50 each. Additional autograph packages will also be available; please visit www.YourFrameOfMind.biz for all 1978 team signed items.

NOTE: Due to time constraints, no fan photos with team members will be permitted.  * Scott Courts, Chuck Aleksinas and Dwane Casey will not be in attendance.

So please join in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Hall, “Goose,” Macy, Robey, Lee, et al winning the championship and BBN’s hearts — we’ll see you Saturday!
