One of the state’s brightest stars on the gridiron will stay at home to be a Kentucky Wildcat.

Treyveon Longmire announced his commitment to Kentucky on Friday morning’s edition of Kentucky Sports Radio. Recruited by Vince Marrow since his freshman season, Longmire chose the Wildcats over offers from more than 20 schools, most notably Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Michigan, Tennessee, West Virginia and Louisville.

“They’ve touched home with me. They’re like family,” Longmire said.

Longmire is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound talent from Corbin High School, ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 17 athlete in America. The recruiting service considers him a four-star prospect and the No. 3 recruit from the state of Kentucky.

The first in-state star to commit to the Wildcats’ 2022 class, Marrow also has his sights set on QB Gavin Wimsatt, wide receiver Dane Key, offensive lineman Grant Bingham and a handful of others. Longmire joins four-star Michigan athlete Jeremiah Caldwell and three-star Georgia cornerback Andre Stewart in UK’s 2022 class.

Longmire could play wide receiver or defensive back at Kentucky. “I’ll play anywhere they need me.”

A two-way star for the Redhounds, he’s done a little bit of everything for Corbin since his freshman season. A returner, wide receiver, running back and defensive back, last season he recorded 18 tackles, had 21 carries for 60 yards, 21 receptions for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Longmire is also a track and field athlete. Watch his best work from 2021 below.
