Couch released by Jaguars

timcouchthrow.jpg Re-reading the headline made me think that someone could mistake it for Tim Couch being released by a group of live Jaguars that had taken him hostage in the Colombian jungle...but I digress. Unfortunately, Couch was cut today in a roster-trimming move by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Couch had a less-than-spectacular appearance in his sole preseason game and fellow third-string competitor, Lester Ricard, managed to have some success. Couch had been bothered by back soreness this week and had sat out several practices. No word as to whether the injury or performance were the motivating factors, but the guess is it was a combination of both. Not sure where the Leslie County native goes from here. He could attempt to sign with another team immediately if there is any interest, or stand pat until the season begins and wait for the inevitable injuries to league quarterbacks to take place. The other option for the Deuce would be to hang 'em up for good, enjoy his family, his millions, and perhaps take advantage of the competitive business environment by investing in a Chilean copper mine. Regardless of the choice Tim makes, we wish him the best of luck. (This post brought to you by the South American Tourism Commision--official Tourism Commision of Kentucky Sports Radio)
