Could this be the New Defensive Coordinator?

minter With the news of the staff changes and the firing of the UK Running Back and Secondary Coaches, the next question is who will end up taking the new positions on the staff? The assumption from many I have spoken with today is that Greg Nord, the current coach of Special Teams, will move to the vacant Running Back position, a job that he has held in the past. In addition, UK has announced that a new Assistant will be hired to be the "Co-Defensive Coordinator." That position likely means that the writing is on the wall for Brown, who I have been told will either find another position (potentially in the NFL) or will focus on being the coach of the Secondary next season. As far as the Co-Defensive Coordinator, most speculation online has focused on Randy Shannon and other big names, but the one name I keep hearing is Rick Minter, the current LB coach at Indiana State University. Yes, you read that correctly...LB Coach at Indiana State. But Minter does have a full resume. He was the Defensive Coordinator under Lou Holtz at South Carolina and Notre Dame, a one time head Coach at Cincinnati and a Coordinator at Marshall. He is part of the Lou Holtz coaching tree and he and Joker have known each other for a long time. The Minter news is by no means a lock, but it would not be a surprising hire and is the name we are hearing most. The man once called "Nuclear Minter" could be the new leader of the Defensive Corps in Lexington. And here is today's radio show...with an appearance from Gregg Doyel and breaking news on UK Football:
