Greetings, friends. Great to see you again. I hope your weekend is going well.
Before we get to the news, let's take a second to send our thoughts/prayers to the family of former Vanderbilt guard Dai-Jon Parker. Parker, who started 26 games for the Commodores in 2013-14, died in an inter-tube accident this Thursday in northern Indiana
. He was 22.
As a Vanderbilt student, I unfortunately never got the chance to meet Dai-Jon. But I do remember watching several of his biggest games - one of them being a 17-point performance against our 'Cats on January 11th, 2014.
Life is a very fragile thing. Rest in peace, Dai-Jon.

In news that shouldn’t be surprising, Karl Towns reportedly won’t be working out for any NBA teams before the June 25th
Draft. And why should he? Karl’s practically guaranteed either the #1 or #2 pick. However, he will be interviewing with the Lakers and Timberwolves in the upcoming weeks. Former UCLA star Don MacLean (who’s been working with Towns this summer) had this to say about Karl’s work ethic
“I’ve been doing this for 11 of 12 years pre-draft. Because I had a lot of top 10 picks and a lot of really good players, I’m not really impressed or blown away. I had Towns all last week I was blown away. Blown away.”
Do the right thing, Minny.
Tai Wynard playing well
According to Jonathan Givony at Draft Express, class of 2016 commit Tai Wynyard is looking pretty good at the USA Basketball U16 Training Camp
. Wynard’s 17, so it’s hard to say why he’s there — but apparently he’s “moving well” and has lost some weight. Still no word on whether or not Tai will suit up for next year’s team (which is an option), but if it happens, it will be in December.

Star Juco Tackle Alexis Johnson picked up an offer from Tennessee this Friday. However, Kentucky is still considered the leader in his recruitment. “I talk to Kentucky a little more than everyone else,” Johnson said in an article on JCfootball.com, “we talk about every day.” Considering that Alexis has a long list of attractive suitors, this is a good thing. Johnson also has offers from Cincinnati, Baylor, NC State, Louisville and Boise State. Come on down?

NBA players want marijuana off list of banned substances
According to TMZ, at least 10 NBA players (who spoke anonymously) voiced their displeasure with the league’s policy on cannabis
. Currently, the drug is placed on the NBA’s list of banned substances — with a positive test leading to a possible suspension. The players say that they are mostly concerned with the medical uses of the plant, and don’t think it’s fair that one can have a prescription in a number of states and still get in trouble. According the NBA Players Association, the issue won’t be discussed until the next collective bargaining agreement in 2017. Tough luck, Nuggets.
