Darius Miller excitement

by:Matt Jones09/07/07
That picture above showcases your newest Kentucky Wildcat.....and that is quite exciting. It was a great morning here around the Kentucky Sports Radio Compound as I went to my email, found a note from the great Etwnappel saying Darius had committed to UK. I did my diligent duty and called Darius's father who at first said, "Yeah he committed....but he isn't talking to any media." I stammered a bit and he laughed and said, "Just messing with you Matt.....I know you can take it." He passed the phone to Darius and you could literally hear the excitement in his voice. There was clearly a celebration going on in the background and it sounded like the UK commitment had the entire county of Mason County joyous (as seen by the rumors today that when announced at his high school that Darius had committed, the UK fight song was played). This is a huge get for UK and one that fans should be thrilled about. After the Patrick Patterson saga, it is hard to say that any commitment is as big as that one....but if there is, then Darius's decision may be close in terms of impact. This is a kid from the state who can help energize the masses and be a true in-state talent....one that Kentucky also coincidently needs. Just an all-around big moment. And as for the story today, I thank the folks at Kentucky Sports Report, Wildcat Nation, KentuckyInk and the other UK sites for allowing all the talk to continue on Darius. Another website made the decision to act as if we werent the first quasi-media outlet to give the confirmation of ET's scoop with our interview with Darius and has deleted every mention of our site and the story from their site....thus giving the impression it broke there. We all know who this is. However Kentucky Sports Radio was credited on WKYT today and I appreciate all the feedback from the fans. Free news for the masses.....gotta love it. Darius will be on Kentucky Sports Radio on Monday.....tune in. And DONT FORGET to make your picks at the Yahoo Pick Em Contest......
