Fresh off of helping Lexington's most famous team win a national title last Monday, Darius Miller will be taking his talents to the baseball diamond later this week to help a less famous Lexington squad get its season going. Miller will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Class A Lexington Legends before their home opener on Thursday night. The game will be against the Kannapolis Intimidators of Kannapolis, NC, and here are all the details you need to know in order to see Darius throwing the stinky cheddar Thursday:
Just more than one week after helping the UK men’s basketball team win its eighth national championship, senior guard Darius Miller will be taking the field in a different sport.
On Thursday, Miller will help the Lexington Legends usher in the 2012 baseball season by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at their home opener versus the Kannapolis Intimidators.
First pitch for the home opener is set for 7:05 p.m., and Miller’s pitch should take place shortly before then. Tickets to the game can be purchased at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark ticket office, by phone at 859-422-7867(RUNS) or 1-866-698-4253 (MY-TICKE) or online here.
Gates open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and fans can enjoy music from the Chris Campbell Band before and after the game. The 2012 Legends Poster Series #12 will be given away to the first 1,000 fans, and as with every Thursday home game beer and Pepsi’s will cost $1.
It probably won't be the start of a new career path for Darius, but it will provide a good chance for folks in Lexington to cheer for him one more time. Let's just hope he does a little better than John Wall.
