The Fourth of July holiday has recently turned into one of the biggest days on the college football recruiting calendar. Every year, high school prospects use that date as the time to make decisions about their future. A handful of Kentucky signees have ended their recruitments with a commitment during this time over the last few cycles with Jermiel Atkins and Quay’sheed Scott committing on Fourth of July.

Kentucky could see another Fourth of July commitment in six weeks. Rome (Ga.) High safety Darnell Collins is pointing to making a final decision on this popular recruiting day.

Kentucky offered the high three-star prospect on Jan. 28. The Cats then got an official visit scheduled for June. Defensive coordinator Brad White and safeties coach Frank Buffano made the trip to Rome in April to visit Darnell Collins. UK is recruiting the prospect as a safety while other schools are recruiting Collins as a wide receiver.

The class of 2026 recruit is one of the top defensive prospects on Kentucky’s board. Darnell Collins has official visits locked in with Georgia Tech (May 30-June 1), Indiana (June 6-8), UK (June 13-15), and NC State (June 20-22).

The biggest day in college football recruiting will be worth paying attention to from a Kentucky perspective. The Cats are making a big push for Darnell Collins.
