Coach O was Kind of Disappointing

Hearing Ed Oregon talk is entertaining, but if you listened, you heard a whole lot of nothing.  Instead of providing high-quality content, he simply went through his two-deep, all the way into his special teams unit.  Even though he wasn't great at the podium, he did something awesome at Media Days. https://twitter.com/ByCasagrande/status/884488840181948416

Why Coach O Wanted to Wear Purple and Gold

Before diving into his depth chart, Coach O did share a cool story about how he fell in love with LSU football.

"I would like to tell you a little story about growing up in Louisiana. In 1971, I was 10 years old and LSU was playing Notre Dame. And it was a great game, two highly ranked opponents. And there was a young man named Ronnie Este from Larose, Louisiana. He had 17 tackles that game. He had three great stops on the goal line, and LSU beat Notre Dame 28-3. And the headline was Irish 2 for LSU. And I was a young boy from Larose. I think the whole city of Larose, the whole state of Louisiana, was cheering for the Tigers that night, and it was just magic.

"Ever since that -- ever since then, I wanted to be in the purple and gold. I want to thank Joe Alleva. I want to thank King Alexander and the LSU family for hiring me as the head coach of the LSU Tigers. What an honor."

Bielema's Interesting Interaction with a Reporter

This retort to a question was completely unexpected and a little Spurrier-esque.

Q. What's the timetable for Dre Greenlaw and for camp? And part two, do you feel like you're going to be a better run defense this coming year, and why would that be? COACH BIELEMA: Can I ask you a question? Where did you get that shirt? I like it, I like it.

Derrius Guice Looked Fantastic

Last year Jojo Kemp was undoubtedly the best dressed man at SEC Media Days.  This year it's going to be awfully tough to top LSU's All-SEC running back, Derrius Guice. https://twitter.com/RossDellenger/status/884497341071466496 Not seen under his headset is the bleach-blonde bun atop his head.  Normally, I'm the first the criticize a man bun, but I would never say nothing bad about Guice to his face.

The Sad State of Tennessee Football

While sitting on the hot seat, Butch Jones tried to inject optimism into fans by...boasting about the program's APR score?

"I was thinking on the plane ride over here, just four-and-a-half years ago where our program was facing the potential APR penalty.  Now that's a thing of the past with a 972, the second year in a row that we'll graduate 100 percent of our seniors in our program. We have 67 players on this year's football team that has a 3.0 or above. And on the last two bowl wins, we've had 26 college graduates participate in those bowl games."

I should not be surprised that a Champion of Life is leading off with something unrelated to action on the football field.  Butch Jones is a joke who's done very little with a ton of talent.

I Made it on TV

Sitting in the back of the ballroom near the SEC Network set, hopefully this is the first of many fantastic TV appearances for the KSR crew.  Keep an eye out for us, folks. A new Depth Chart Podcast from Hoover is right around the corner.
