Kentucky will be without Alvonte Bell, a projected starter on the defensive line, this coming season. The senior defensive end was dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules, Mark Stoops announced Tuesday afternoon. Bell originally signed with Kentucky in 2013 when Joker Phillips was the head coach, before going to junior college for a couple of years. He finally arrived in Lexington in 2015, sat out that year as a redshirt junior, then played in 12 games last season with four starts. He finished 2016 with 27 tackles and one tackle for loss. His dismissal is a huge blow to defensive end depth.
