Derby Favorite is Out
The first Saturday in May is almost here, and that can only mean one thing. It’s time for Mint Juleps and Derby Pie. Of course, the occasion is the Kentucky Derby, and this years race might have a little more intrigue. Eskendereya, the favorite to win has been pulled from the race due to swelling in his left front leg.
While some sympathy for the horse is understandable, don’t feel bad for the trainer. Pletcher will still be saddling up to six horses in the race, so his odds at a win are substantial. Especially if they employ the shake and bake.
