A 19-year-old was arrested on Memorial Day for randomly shooting at Lexington buildings, which is very frowned upon in the eyes of the law. Police say Layne Chadwell fired shots in a Speedway gas station on Paris Pike, nearly hitting an employee. Read more from the report from WKYT:
19-year-old Layne Chadwell was arrested Monday afternoon. According to a police report, Chadwell entered a Speedway gas station on Paris Pike less than an hour earlier and fired multiple shots from a handgun, nearly hitting an employee. Witnesses say Chadwell then got into his car and fired more shots while traveling on Paris Pike. According to the police report, Chadwell fired shots a third time at a location on North Broadway within the vicinity of an on-duty police officer. [WKYT]
There's no word on whether or not Chadwell was also behind the shots fired into the Lexington Herald-Leader building downtown on Monday. However, there is word that Chadwell's mugshot is a wild one. That's one he'd probably like to retake.
