Don't make me say goodbye, Randall Cobb

(See, I can do Photoshop, too!)[/caption] Why, hello there KSR. It's been quite a while. My, you've gotten bigger since the last time we talked. I can't tell you how excited I am to be back--almost as giddy as Papa Brooks in a field of ripe tomatoes. And BTI, just because I’m the lady of this little frat house now doesn't mean I'm doing all the cooking and cleaning. Seriously, the floors just look better when you scrub them. Now that we've gotten all the niceties out of the way, let's talk sports. On Saturday, the football team beat Vanderbilt yet again to achieve bowl eligibility. In case you fell asleep during the game (it really was a snooze fest…I almost nodded off at the bar), here’s what we learned: Randall Cobb is awesome, we missed Derrick Locke, and our defense is bad. And thankfully, the Cats have an extra week to prepare for the emotional meltdown that is the Tennessee game; I don’t think we’ve ever needed a bye week so badly. I think we all have school girl crushes on Randall Cobb, so I know I’m preaching to the choir when I say he is a rare kind of Kentucky player. I’ve never seen a player whose passion for the game and the team matched the fans’. And although he got snubbed in the SEC awards this week (props to DeQuin Evans for being named Defensive Lineman of the Week, however), Cobb will leave a lasting legacy with the program. If not for his second half heroics (and man were they heroic), we would have to beat Tennessee in order to become bowl eligible…and we all know how well that’s worked in years past. You have to think that Cobb knew Saturday was his last game at Commonwealth. From the busloads of friends and family in attendance to the way he left it it all on the field and the kisses and hugs afterward, it seemed like the curtains were starting to close on number eighteen’s college career. The only way the goodbye could be any more fitting would be to top it off with a win over Tennessee, the home state school that snubbed him. But if Cobb comes back after this season, I’ll never be so happy to be wrong. I’m saving most of my Tennessee hate for next week, but let’s be honest, there’s always some to spare. Yesterday on WLAP, Anthony White said that the UK coaching staff will play “Rocky Top” on the speakers in the football facilities non-stop until the Tennessee game. If this team didn’t already have a million reasons to beat the Vols, there’s another one right there.
