Down Goes Joker

Did you know the guy wearing the UK QB handwarmer is actually the same guy that beat UK on a trick play in OT?[/caption]
Warning: I am very angry. VERY VERY ANGRY. My creativity is at a new low, and this game was the most exhausting roller coaster of a game I've seen in awhile.
- The Quarterback that beat me in the State Championship only needed one play throwing the ball to beat the Cats in OT, 32-31. Willie Taggert decided to go for 2 in OT for the win, and his gutsy trick play worked. Antonio Andrews caught a pass out of the slot, then threw it back to the other side of the field to QB Kawaun Jakes to give WKU their first win over an SEC opponent in 17 tries.
- Not only did Andrews throw the game winning conversion, but he did pretty much everything else for Western. Even though the Kentucky defense actually did a pretty good job of forcing the RBs to bounce it outside, Andrews still found ways to knife through the defense. He finished with 125 yards and 3 TDs on 34 carries while also catching 3 passes for a team-high 36 yards.
- Mistakes were the name of the game for the Cats today, on both sides of the football. Max Smith's 3 interceptions in the first quarter and a half built a hill too big to climb for the Cats, as they struggled all night just to catch up. UK is not a good enough team to beat ANYONE in the country when they turn the ball over that much. To top it off, UK had WKU stopped in Overtime on a 3rd down, but Bud Dupree's roughing the passer penalty gave the Toppers a fresh set of downs. The next two plays ended the game for the Wildcats. YOU CAN'T MAKE MISTAKES AT KENTUCKY!!!!!!!!!
- UK's deep running core was unusually thin tonight. CoShik Williams missed last weeks game, and had to miss a decent amount of snaps tonight as well. Raymond Sanders was suspended after violating team rules, leaving the majority of the duties to Jonathan George. George finished with 105 yards of total offense, getting two Touchdowns on the ground and one through the air. While most fans are depressed, Ryan Lemond rejoices Jon Jon's success.
- Max Smith's final stat line is very intriguing. He finished the game going 37/60 for 332 yards, 2 TDs and 4 interceptions. The back-to-back 300+ yard passing games hasn't been done since Hartline pulled it off in 2010. These stats make me wonder: What the hell is he doing throwing 60 passes a game? Max Smith is good but he isn't Tim Couch. You can not throw it 60 times and run it only 19 times if you expect other teams to respect your run game.
- On a lighter note, La'Rod King passed Kevin Pullman to become the Number 10 in receiving yards in UK history.
