Dr. Dundiff's Tuesday Morning Wakeup

My DeSales High classmates were on to something when we voted for the Class of 2010's "Most Likely to be Famous."  We didn't know Roman Aprile would eventually become Dr. Dundiff, but we knew the music composer was on to something good. Dr. Dundiff has done so much it's hard to keep up with it all.  He dabbles into a variety of music, from rap and electric, to jazzy and bluesy tunes.  Last week he was playing with the Louisville Orchestra, last month he headlined Waterfront Wednesday, not long after playing on stage with Jim James.  His large band "Dr. Dundiff and Friends" features a string and a horns section, perfectly accentuating his new collaborator, vocalist Otis Junior. I would plug my friend's music regardless of circumstance, but Dundiff and Otis are truly a fantastic team.  They've already produced one fantastic album (1Moment2Another) with Jakarta Records and they have another one in the works.  Wet the beak with my favorite from that album, Me vs. Me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Aqqv6kQnbw Before the next album with Otis drops, Dundiff has a new electric adventure on the market, In Love Everyday, highlighted by the single "Louisville."  It won't be everybody's cup of tea, but the video is pretty damn cool.  If that doesn't float your boat, these are two songs you can't not like: The City Song, "Let It Go" and The 1. I'm glad my classmates had enough sense to see Roman's bright future.  It would have been a disappointment if they voted for some stupid blogger to be most likely to be famous.

Boogies is the Best

DeMarcus Cousins says what's on his his mind.  Sometimes it gets him into trouble, but it's hilarious all of the time.  When he was asked about his teammate Ty Lawson last week he kept it real, too real.   “Motherf-ckers quick as sh-t!” His statement following last night's game was just as wild.  Boogie was asked if he attended the Paul McCartney concert that opened the Kings' new arena.  "I don't even know who that is."   Never change, DeMarcus, never change.

Bye Week Woes

Without a game Saturday, Mark Stoops didn't have his usual Monday press conference.  Instead, we had to hear him on the call-in show where he revealed a few critical injuries.  Stoops said Stephen Johnson played with a banged up wrist all week.  He also revealed a few undisclosed injuries at outside linebacker and defense end that could take "a couple of weeks" to recover.

We'll Hear from the Offense Tonight

After they gave the team a break away from the practice field yesterday, Eddie Gran and the offense will speak after they take the field today.  Stoops said they'll spend a lot of time working on timing routes to improve the deep ball.  One can only help the drought of passing touchdowns since the first quarter of the New Mexico State game does not last much longer.

Coach Cal Watched a Couple Former Players

After a busy Sunday night promoting his current players to their future bosses, Cal spent time watching his former players at their new job.  Coach Cal flew to Charlotte to watch Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Aaron Harrison host Karl-Anthony Towns' Minnesota Timberwolves.  Towns' team won after he put up 4 points and 6 rebounds, a stat line he shared with MKG.  Unfortunately, A-A-Ron did not get a chance to enter the game. While in Charlotte, Calipari missed seeing an impressive performance from DeAndre Liggins.  He didn't get the chance to start, but he still had a fantastic night from the floor.  Liggins scored 7 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists, including this no-look dish on the break.

Drew is Getting His Makeup Done

Usually today is his day to run the site, but he needed to prepare to look pretty for TV.  I would make fun of him, but I too own TV makeup.  However, if you'd like to make fun of him, by all means.  The day a man purchases makeup is the most emasculating day in a man's life.  If you'd like to pile on, I won't stop you.

Coach Brumbaugh's Son Commits

Jimmy Brumbaugh's son Legend was just starting high school at Henry Clay when the defensive line coach came to Kentucky.  The left-handed quarterback spent two years with the Blue Devils before transferring to Lex Cath, then Trinity Christian in Jacksonville, Fl.  Yesterday the younger Brumbaugh announced he will attend UT-Martin, a school on UK's schedule in 2019.

The Iroquois Overlook is Open

For all of those outside of Louisville, I'm sorry this doesn't apply to you, but it needs to be known. After closing the switchback trail and sending construction companies up the windy hill to the top of Iroquois Park for months, the new overlook is finally open and it kicks all kinds of ass.  Even though the road to the top of Olmsted's hill is only open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, there's a new trail that will take you right to the top to see the city from its highest point.  The trail is not too hard, not too long, and just a short trip from the parking area near the golf course (just walk 50-100 yards beyond the closed gate, you can't miss it). The fall weather is fantastic.  I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon (because that's exactly what my dog Jag and I did yesterday).

This is Awkward

Unfortunately, Big Papi played his last game in Fenway last night after the Sox were upset by the Indians with a 4-3 loss.  Hate him or love him, Ortiz helped the Red Sox break the curse.  It'll be weird now that he's gone, but probably not as weird as his final tip of the cap.  GET OUT OF THE WAY REPORTERS! I hope this doesn't mean the end to Keenan's appearances as Papi on Weekend Update. The Nationals took a 2-1 series lead over the Dodgers with an 8-3 win.  Game 4 is today at 5:00 on FS1.  The Cubs' crazy game went to 13 innings, eventually falling to the Giants 6-5 in San Francisco.  The Cubs can close out the series with a win tonight at 8:30 on FS1.
