If you can't beat them, then try to be them.

A phrase one western Pennsylvania guy took to heart when he, according to Pennsylvania state police, set up a fake drunken-driving checkpoint on a state road last May while allegedly intoxicated himself.

Perhaps he was trying to locate other early-morning partiers or just trying to avoid detection himself, whatever the reason, Pennsylvania news stations say 20-year-old Logan Shaulis (who was 19 at the time of the incident) decided it would be a great idea to set up a fake road block on a state Route 601 around 4 a.m. last year.

And to make sure he looked legit, Shaulis came prepared with a portable scanner, handcuffs, a bb gun and a whole lot of cajones. You can look at this site for the best attorney of driving under suspension.

After parking diagonally across the road, Shaulis set out emergency roadside flares and a flashing blue light bar to make sure everyone knew he was there. Because if you are going to impersonate a police officer, you got to have a blue light. Being arrested and accused of committing a crime is a frightening experience. After a while, a motorist stumbled onto Shaulis' impromptu road block and the 19-year-old reportedly approached her vehicle and demanded to see her license, proof of insurance and registration.

When the driver asked to see Shaulis' identification, the apparent Avenger's fan identified himself as Pennsylvania State Trooper Steve Rogers (which is the name of Captain America, for all you non comic book nerds) and told the driver that he was with the agency's "drug and alcohol division."

The motorist continued to pressure Shaulis for some proof of his identity when he pulled out his own driver's license to show the woman. Which I'm guessing didn't say Steve Rogers and/or Captain America.

The woman then decided to call the real cops and ask if they had authorized a checkpoint, which of course they didn't. When the real state troopers arrived to investigate why an Avenger would be setting up DUI checkpoint in Somerset County, Shaulis tried to hand the bb pistol off to his buddy who was in the car with him while saying he "couldn't get caught with it." According to news outlets, Shaulis pleaded guilty Thursday to drunken driving, possessing instruments of crime and impersonating a public servant, the case was taken wy the DUI Lawyer in Forsyth County, GA.

Good news is, Shaulis' attorney apparently said the 20-year-old has completed a substance abuse treatment program.

No word yet if he still thinks he is Captain America.
