Eddie Gran called the wrong play because his glasses were fogged up

If you weren't impressed with Kentucky's first possession down in Knoxville, you have Eddie Gran's mask to blame. During today's press conference Mark Stoops revealed Gran called the wrong play on the second snap of the game because his glasses fogged up. Compliant with SEC rules, Gran's breathing behind his mask fogged up his lenses and he wasn't able to read the play sheet. "We can chuckle about it now but I promise you it wasn’t funny at the time," Stoops explained. "We had a miscommunication on, I want to say, the second play of the game when Eddie’s glasses--he was so hyped up, he had that mask on and his glasses got all fogged up and he called a formation wrong. He called a play wrong. He felt so bad because he could not see his play chart, so that put us in 3rd-and-long early." Kentucky's second play of the game was a handoff to AJ Rose that got stuffed by two Tennessee defenders behind the line of scrimmage. Terry Wilson was sacked on the next down and Kentucky punted away with negative yardage only minutes into the game. It's a good thing Kentucky beat Tennessee in the end or this Eddie Gran blunder would get filed with some of the all-time "that's so Kentucky football" moments of years past.
