ESPN names two Kentucky Wildcats midseason All-Americans

ESPN’s Chris Low released his midseason All-American team this morning and two Kentucky Wildcats made the list: offensive guard Bunchy Stallings and linebacker Josh Allen.

“One of the keys to Kentucky’s hot start this season has been its experience,” Low writes. “The Wildcats are laden with players who’ve been in the program for at least three years, and the 6-foot-3, 305-pound Stallings is a redshirt senior who’s paved the way for a big chunk of Benny Snell’s 699 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Stallings played some center earlier in his career and is in the best shape of his career. He’s been a road-grader for the Wildcats. Go see for yourself and turn on tape from the Florida game.”

Allen has won the SEC Defensive Player of the Week award three times this season and is consistently ranked amongst the top pass rushers in the country. As Low says, he’s unstoppable (which is why offensive lines have resorted to holding).

“As pass-rushers go, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Allen has been right there at the top from his outside linebacker position. He’s having a sensational senior season and has been a blur off the edge. Allen has 10.5 tackles for loss, including six sacks. Five of those sacks have come against SEC opponents, and he also has five quarterback hurries, three pass break-ups and two forced fumbles. Offenses simply haven’t been able to block him one-on-one.”

Benny Snell did not make the list, with Clemson’s Travis Etienne and Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor getting the nod at running back. Can someone make sure Benny knows? Thanks.
