Evan Daniels explains why he backed off his Isaiah Stewart to UK prediction

The Crystal Ball is a magical thing. It allows fans a chance to get a look at expert predictions and it usually sends people into a tizzy. That’s exactly what happened when 247 Sports Basketball Recruiting Analyst Evan Daniels switched his Kentucky pick to “foggy”, indicating he’s unsure at this moment where Stewart will go to college.

The No. 5 player in the class of 2019 visited Kentucky over the weekend and spoke with Daniels after the visit. Read that entire article HERE.

“It was good,” Stewart told Daniels. “Kentucky is another place I haven’t seen so I was pretty happy I go out there. Kentucky is Kentucky, you got to go there and bust your chops off. They have what you need so you just have to go there and take it. Once you take it you hopefully can get a chance to get up out of there.”
We’ve been saying all along that Stewart is taking a business approach to his college recruitment. He wants to go to a place that can get him to the NBA fast, but also once he makes it to the league he wants to be competitive from day one. Ideally no G-League and little time on the bench. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big and it seems like if that’s what he’s interested in then UK would be the logical choice.
UK fans started going crazy when Daniels joined national analysts Brian Snow and Jerry Meyer with a Kentucky Crystal Ball pick, but yesterday Daniels backed off that pick.
“It’s very difficult to pinpoint a leader and I think this recruitment continues to change and evolve,” Daniels said.
Ruh roh. That doesn’t sound like positive news but it’s not the end of the world. Daniels isn’t overly confident on any leader at this point, so it’s not like the Cats are trailing following the official visit. But as of today Stewart doesn’t have any other visits planned and signs point towards Stewart announcing in the fall. Daniels agrees with the latter but believers there will be other visits before a final decision.
“I think there’s a good chance that he announces in the fall and I do expect him to take more visits, although he hasn’t schedule any yet,” Daniels told KSR.
Not the best news after things were looking great with Stewart, but I think he still ends up at UK and the fact that Snow and Merry are still holding steady with their UK predictions is a positive. We may have only another month in this recruitment, so root for Stewart not taking any other official visits.
