In case you’ve been under a rock the last 24 hours, Al Jazeera released a recording of Charles Sly, a guy who says he helped Tennessee legend Peyton Manning along with a host of other NFL and MLB stars, get their hands on steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. Now, with so much backlash, many are questioning the accuracy of the reports including the Colts, Broncos, Peyton Manning, Manning’s doctor, and Charles Sly, the source of the original report, along with many others.

Here’s what some of them said:

The doctor who allegedly provided Manning with the HGH also released a statement to Bleacher Report supporting him, “I have no reason to believe these allegations are based in fact or have any truth. In fact, I can say with absolute certainty they are not. […] I would emphasize that Mr. Sly was never an employee of the Guyer Institute and his brief three-month internship occurred in 2013 during which time Peyton was not even being treated or present in the office. I think it is obvious that Mr. Sly fabricated this whole thing for reasons I cannot fathom. I am proud to have treated Peyton and helped him through his rehabilitation. Mr. Manning is one of the most honorable and upstanding individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing.”

Charles Sly released a YouTube video recanting the statements he made saying, “[…] There is no truth to any statement of mine that Al Jazeera plans to air. […] Any recordings of me were made without my knowledge or consent.”

Finally, Peyton Manning went on ESPN this morning to refute the claims himself, saying that he is furious and disgusted over the whole thing. “What hurts me the most about this,” Manning said to ESPN. “Whoever this guy is, this slapstick trying to insinuate that in 2011, when more than less I had a broken neck — I had four neck surgeries. … It stings me whoever this guy is to insinuate that I cut corners, I broke NFL rules in order to get healthy. It’s a joke. It’s a freaking joke.”

In my opinion, Manning will go down as one of the best QBs to ever play in the NFL. Apparently, the NFL will investigate the matter either way. I wish nothing but the best for the SEC legend and I hope these allegations do nothing to distract from his legacy.
