Jamarius Dinkins is a high three-star defensive line prospect from Columbus, Oh. who recently released a top five of Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan State, Virginia and West Virginia. https://twitter.com/spider55k/status/1316513810400841728?s=20 A week later, Dinkins made it official and pledged to Kentucky scoring another recruiting win for recruiting ace Vince Marrow. The defensive line prospect looks like your prototypical 3-4 jumbo defensive end who brings excellent length and potential size to the position. UK continues to build in the trenches and Dinkins is another young body that will push for playing time in Anwar Stewart's position room Now it's time to step into the KSR Film Room to see just what type of player Brad White's defense is landing. Dinkins brings outstanding length and fits the mold for the type of player UK has used on their defensive line in the past. The first real thing that jumps out about Jamarius Dinkins is just the sheer size he brings to the table. The defensive line prospect is a legit 6-foot-6 and reportedly checks in at over 250 pounds. That is just not a frame that is very easy to find. That alone makes him an intriguing prospect, but football is still all about striking. You have to have a physicalness about you and be able to deliver a blow. Dinkins has quick hands and they can arrive violently. Playing left guard, Dinkins pulls around to the play side and delivers a heavy, heavy blow to the second level defender. He has a lot of raw areas to his game, but there's no denying the size and on tape he appears to be a guy who will be able to move some weight around in the gym. He needs a fair amount of development time, but he has a very high ceiling. However, this is a kid that was recruited to play defensive line. When you turn on his senior tape, you've seen him add some mass to that tall frame and it appears to be a young player that is continuing to grow. The size he possesses is one hell of a trait. On the pass rush, Dinkins overpowers the left tackle and ends the play with a sack. There are some technique issues that need to be worked on, but you can see the ceiling. This is a player that packs power, length and that should lead to presenting a ton of problems to opposing offensive tackles. Kentucky hit last year's defensive line recruiting out of the park, but now they need to fill some slots for depth. It is important to recruit traits at certain positions and Dinkins fits the mold for that along the defensive line. We've seen Kentucky succeed with some very tall interior defensive line players in the past and a few years spent for development. Jamarius Dinkins will need some time to season when arrives in Lexington but the ceiling is so, so high.
