First Coach Clyde commitment?

vilarino.jpeg Hoopsreport.com (a website I have not known until now) is reporting that Coach Clyde has his first commitment from the class of 2009 (yes 2009!), point guard GJ Vilarino. He is currently ranked as one of the top 15 sophomores in the country, and beyond that, I know nothing about him. It looks like all of us are going to have to begin scouting earlier in order to keep up with Coach Clyde. The site has also reported that Deandre Jordan is trying to end up going to Kentucky.....a possibility expanded because Jordan filled out his Derby Classic form with the college of choice left blank.....interesting. Here is an excerpt of an article on GJ from Mckinney Sports when he made the Adidas National Team: Another prestigious basketball camp, another set of accolades for McKinney point guard G.J. Vilarino. Vilarino was named to the underclassmen all-star team at last weekend’s Adidas Superstars Camp in Atlanta. His performance was so impressive that hoopscoop.com also ranked him one of the top 20 underclassmen. Vilarino, who in June made the all-star game at the Pangos All-American camp and was ranked in the top 40 at the Nike Hoop Jamboree, continued his strong play in the most competitive camp yet. The Adidas event welcomes All-Americans from across the nation, unlike the previous two camps which were comprised of players from the west coast. "This is a lot more prestigious," father Gerry said. "It’s a significant accomplishment." Vilarino was one of 15 players from the Class of 2009 invited to the camp. The camp features so many talented players that it is known for attracting the elite NCAA coaches. Gerry said Roy Williams, Mike Krzyzewski, Lute Olson, Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith were a few of the biggest names in attendance. "They got a chance to see him play," Gerry said. Vilarino, the McKinneySports.net Fab Five Player of the Year, enters his sophomore season at McKinney in the winter.
