There was a belief that Keyonte George would be in Lexington today, but that is no longer the case.

A five-star shooting guard from the class of 2022, George told KSR on Monday afternoon that he is not on an official visit to the University of Kentucky. As of right now, no date has been scheduled in the future, but George did say that he is in the process of working one out. 247 Sports has George’s official visit to Kentucky scheduled to begin today.

This isn’t bad news by any means for Kentucky, unless an official visit ultimately never comes to fruition. It was already a busy weekend in Lexington for the coaching staff as they hosted fellow five-star prospects Shaedon Sharpe, Chris Livingston, and Dereck Lively II over the last few days. George was quick to add that he’s still trying to get a date set to visit Kentucky.

George’s presence on campus will be well-known, too. He’s widely viewed as the top-ranked shooting guard in his class and the top overall player from the state of Texas. Kentucky assistant coach Jai Lucas has used his ties to the Longhorn State in order to connect with George. Those two have a relationship that goes back to Lucas’s days coaching at Texas.

“He (Coach Lucas) offered me at Texas and after that just building a great relationship with him, basketball or not, just talking to him, having different conversations. It just carried over when he came to Kentucky,” George told KSR earlier this month.

Already this month, George has taken official visits to both Texas and Baylor, two schools that he listed among his top five, which he announced on May 20. Joining those two programs were Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Kentucky. It is not known at this time if George will take official visits to Kansas or Oklahoma State.
