A First Look at Eddie Gran's Offense

It's a double-edged sword -- yes, it should be exciting to see something different than what we are used to, but it will be the most basic version of the offense, unwilling to let the cat out of the bag (sorry, but I'm not sorry for that pun). What this means is that you're going to see a lot of running, and not from the usual suspects.  Boom Williams has been in a red "no contact" jersey all spring after undergoing elbow surgery and Mikel Horton has played off and on after getting rolled up on in the first scrimmage of the spring.  You'll get plenty of JoJo Kemp, along with a surprise dose of Sihiem King.  I predict that when you walk away from the game, King will be the player you're asking your friends, "DID YOU SEE THAT?"

Lamar Thomas' Wide Receivers

If the first pass is dropped, Armageddon is not upon us.  However, a drop free day would create the biggest smiles football has produced for the BBN in a long, long time.

The Drew Barker Era Begins

Technically it got a headstart with a few starts near the end of the season, but the Barker we've seen off the field is much more mature than the quarterback we saw last season.  The coaches say he's become a leader of the offense, but will it be evident in today's production?  He doesn't have to throw for 350 yards.  Gran and Darin Hinshaw just want to see him make the routine plays without any sloppiness.

Defensive Transfers

Much of the defense's success will rely heavily upon the production of hard-hitting newcomers Courtney Love (Nebraska) and De'Niro Laster (Minnesota).  Love will be the general in the middle, where Laster will bounce around from outside to inside linebacker.  If they live up to the hype today, that's one less worry moving into preseason summer football talks.

Will the DBs Dominate?

They're young, they're talented, but they have a new coach.  Even so, I believe Coach Clink has Chris Westry, Derrick Baity and Co. ready to dominate the 2's.  I know that this will be the matchup I'm looking at when the White team has the ball. Some of the work Chris Westry has been putting in.  https://vine.co/v/iIAt25DFv0p w
